As a TKGA Certified Master Hand Knitter, Ladianne Henderson elegantly bridges the worlds of artist and craftsperson, challenging the notion that these roles must stand apart. Her approach to knitting design is both intuitive and disciplined, reflecting a painter’s sensitivity alongside a keen understanding of structure. Drawing from her expertise in fabric architecture, pattern geometry, and the distinctive qualities of yarn, Henderson seamlessly translates her visual language into wearable form.

Henderson’s painterly sensibility extends to her role as partner, and a hand dyer and creative director of WoolTribe—an artisanal dye studio dedicated to working exclusively with 100% USA wool. Here, she oversees the transformation of raw fiber into richly hued yarns and thoughtfully designed ready-to-wear pieces, such as beanies and scarves. Each skein and finished object is a testament to her deep relationship with color and material, using both to convey narrative and evoke emotion. She finds joy in sharing this business with her partner, Sheri L. Osborne.

Through her knitting design portfolio, Henderson invites us to reconsider the boundaries between fine art and fiber art. Every design—whether a timeless accessory or an innovative garment—embodies her commitment to craftsmanship, her eye for subtle detail, and her understanding of color as a storyteller in its own right.
